Ponderings in Changing Seasons

When All You Can Hear is “NOW”

This thing had been there a long time ~ this thing that never seemed to leave. Though it seemed important, it never left its simmering spot on the back burner.  So much on the back burner just burns up, becomes charred ruins of thoughts, intentions, even promises.  Not this thing.  It just kept simmering, like condensed milk and sugar and vanilla turning to rich, golden caramel.  Over time this thing just kept getting warmer and more fragrant.  It was aging and it was freshening.  Sweetening, really.

“NOW,” she heard in her mind’s ear.

“NOW!” she heard in her heart.

  “The TIME is NOW!”

And so she lifted this heavy thing off the burner; a stirring she knew it needed.  And, just maybe a dash of cinnamon, just to spice it up a bit, to make it more enticing.  And then she knew this thing just wasn’t for her, not just for her to keep, to anticipate, to treasure only in herself.  She knew that it called for companions to enjoy together, this stirring up of words and ideas.

Boldly she stood down fear.  Boldly she set it out for all to see.  Boldly she began to let her words create afresh, to sweeten and to ripen with each changing season.

For her, a New Day had dawned; a New Season begun!
